Hmmm. Was looking at the
springkink prompts that are now up in that community, and oddly feeling not-instantly-motivated by any one in particular. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of creative prompts posted there--just most are for fandoms I'm not familiar with (although there are two there for older fandoms of mine that have been filed under "for further consideration".)
I may just wait until after the claiming rush on Dec. 28th, and pick up something then (which is what happened last round). ...Or maybe I'll just continue to work on the three *cough* current Saiyuki WIPs until they're off my plate first. The latter would definitely be the more sensible option.
Followed
chomiji's talk of
yuletide and have been happily poking around the archive at yuletidetreasure.org. Read several memorable ones, and decided to rec some of the stand-out ones here:
Cats of Quarro (author currently anonymous, rated PG)
(Joan D. Vinge's Psion Trilogy. Contains spoilers for the series, especially for the first and third books. A stunning read. The story really captures the essence of the novels, and I can't wait to find out who wrote this so I can stalk their lj and find out if they've written any other Sci-fi stuff.)
Quack Theories on the Care and Socialisation of Felines (testing, testing) (author currently anonymous, rated PG)
(Wild Adapter. A stylistically very different piece, focusing on the "growing pains" of Kubota and Tokito's relationship early on. Really a clever bit of writing.)
Ritual and Return (author currently anonymous, rated PG.)
Xxxholic. Lovely use of mythology, and captures all of the characters in a way that is really true to the original source. Definitely worth a read, if one is familiar with the series.
...And a rec for a fic that I was already aware of, but hadn't realized was posted in this particular archive....
A Thousand Nights and One Day by Qwerty (Rating NC-17 with warnings for non-con, het and slash)
(Saiyuki. Pairing: Chin Isou/Kanan/Hakkai [*not* as a threesome]. This is a chilling look into Kanan's captivity and into the mind of the son of her captor. A very plausible backstory for an obsession *shudder*.
