So I have gotten into a strange situation with [livejournal.com profile] vom_marlowe's kink meme. There are three unclaimed prompts over there that I've been working on--and since I'm a slow writer, they're still in various stages of completion. Only problem is, the one that I've been working on most (and is closest to done) got kinda scooped about a week and a half back by someone working on an entirely different prompt.

So now I'm not sure quite what to do. I *like* this fic, and really would like to finish it. I'd also like to post it on the off chance that the requester checks back in so that they find out someone liked their currently unclaimed prompt and wrote for it. I can't even contact the author of the other fic to see if they'd mind if I posted mine, since the other story is (of course) anonymous.

This really was an independent idea. The dialogue is different, the setting is different, the principle characters are somewhat different in that it involves a larger cast. But the premise that frames it, and also part of the ending, are both eerily similar. I'm sure this is due in part to the fact that there are really only a very few possible ways to get these particular characters to the same place at the same time. Nonetheless, plagiarism is a dirty word, and I really don't want to be accused of it--thus I have serious reservations about putting the story up anywhere. *sigh*

Title: Masquerade: the Aftermath
Pairing: Ukoku/Hakkai
Rated: R
Warnings: Implied roughhousing and implied sex

Summary: What happens next.

A/N: Back by popular demand. Well, no, not really. ...But this was inspired by a comment from [livejournal.com profile] jiele, "I wonder how much of the manor they're gonna destroy before someone catches on...." It was too much fun to resist. Follows about a week after the events of 'Masquerade'.

Fic recs

Read two amazingly good Saiyuki fics this week, both quite unusual. Linking them here for future reference.

A story about robots by sockpuppet of love--AKA [livejournal.com profile] andmydog (Rating, NC-17)

(I'm not sure if this direct link into an archive will work or not. If it glitches, I'll come back and fix it later. This fic is a stunning variation on Asimov's "I, Robot". There are so many beautiful well-thought out details here, and the writing is just breathtaking. Definitely one of the more creative takes on the "Be There" story arc that I've every read.)

Also.

Guiding Light by Madhumalati--AKA [livejournal.com profile] macavitykitsune (Rating, T)

(Again a link into an archive, so hopefully it's live. The first and only Nii/Tenpou fic I've ever read. Really quite unsettling, and a very original concept.)

Actually, while I'm at it, I'll also list two bits from [livejournal.com profile] springkink that I've really liked.

A certain responsibility by Incandescens (Rating, G)

(This is a crossover between Saiyuki and Petshop of Horrors. Flawless Goujun voice, and interesting on many, many levels (I love how Hakkai is cast as the pet!))

And...

And I'll be there by Lady_ganesh (Rating, R)

(Ah, I feel nostalgic. And old. What a delightful rendition of Saiyuki in the 70's. The characters are great, and it doesn't take too long to pick up the undercurrent of a familiar storyline. Definitely a worthwhile read.)

So.  One of the reasons I got this journal was to participate in online challenges/communities that run on livejournal.  I do actually have fic in other fandoms in other corners of the web, but the intent of this journal is to stick mainly to the Minekura Kazuya fandoms of Wild Adapter, Bus Gamer, and Saiyuki.

Of course, I haven't written much in these fandoms yet (hence the emptiness of this little corner of lj).  However, on October 13th I'll put up my first springkink contribution.  I'm really looking forward to being able to participate.

My fic contribution has basically been finished (i.e. gaping plot holes patched over) since sometime late last week.  This is an accomplishment, as the storyline somehow metamorphosed into something much more complicated then what I started with.  Even now, I can't quite seem to leave it alone.  It's like a never ending construction project on the freeway.  I suspect the orange cones will not be taken in until some time around midnight on October 12th.

That being said, I've had a whole lot of fun with this prompt.  And it still won't leave me alone.  It wants a sequel.  Two sequels, in fact.  I never knew that AU's were so damn addictive.   Obviously I'll have to be more wary of them in the future.

Welcome

Welcome to freeradical9's journal!

There's not much here at the moment, I'm afraid.  I'm still unpacking boxes and sweeping cobwebs out of dusty corners.  In the near future, I hope to use this little pad as a forum for hobbies and fanfic.  Check back again soon!
