Have not been around at all for the past two weeks due to an abrupt and unexpected surgery.

I'd rather forget the whole experience, so I won't go into the gory details. Suffice to say there was an extended hospital visit, many, many tests, and a day and a half spent talking to experts and exploring my options, trying to find a way to avoid the inevitable.

Currently, I'm healing up at home. While I'm very glad that the procedure had a positive outcome, it's difficult to escape the follow-up frustration at the lack of stamina and mobility that goes along with recovery. *sigh*

Awww! I'm so sorry! Yeah, I don't usually like to talk too much about these issues ... I wanna deliver a report, have everyone who wants put in their 2 cents, and then forget about it.

Yeah. It's important to update so friends know what's been going on, and it can certainly be cathartic to share. Most times, however, I'm happiest just reaching a point where I can put it behind me and move on. :|

Oh, you like Furuba? It was my first shoujo series. Once I found out about the differences in types of manga, I realized that I was reading all shounen/seinen series, and asked my f-list for suggestions for shoujo manga. Almost everyone agreed that Fruits Basket was a must read. The premise is ridiculous, but there's tons of emotional power, which is what really grabs me anyway. I think I like Shigure best, overall, even though he's twisted and looking for love in all the wrong places ... I also like Hatsuharu and Rin.

Hee. I used to follow a lot more manga series than I do currently, and I keep wandering away from Furuba, but somehow it keeps drawing me back. I don't have an ultimate favorite character, but enjoy the complexities of some of the older individuals especially, and get really drawn in by all the back story. ^_^

Thanks. I had quite a few days of testing and tribulations (but fortunately no complications). Very glad to be out of there--and fortunate to have relatives visiting for a short while so that I can trade many of the usual home duties for rest! ^_^

*squishes gently* I am glad you feel well enough to drop us a post. :( I am sorry you were/are ill. I understand the lack of stamina after a surgery, so take all the time you need to feel better. *hugs gently again*

*hugs back* Thanks so much for the kind words. It's definitely a bumpy road, but feels good to be making progress. ...And glad to be able to catch up with lj again. ^_^

Thank you very much! Things are getting better day by day. This has been the culmination of a not-very-enjoyable fall, and I think I'll be quite happy to see the end of 2008. *sigh*
