Have not been around at all for the past two weeks due to an abrupt and unexpected surgery.

I'd rather forget the whole experience, so I won't go into the gory details. Suffice to say there was an extended hospital visit, many, many tests, and a day and a half spent talking to experts and exploring my options, trying to find a way to avoid the inevitable.

Currently, I'm healing up at home. While I'm very glad that the procedure had a positive outcome, it's difficult to escape the follow-up frustration at the lack of stamina and mobility that goes along with recovery. *sigh*

Thank you very much! Things are getting better day by day. This has been the culmination of a not-very-enjoyable fall, and I think I'll be quite happy to see the end of 2008. *sigh*
